Live Happier Longer
60Life to the Full
No one has control over their parents, where they are born, to which family, at what place and time and in what condition. The circumstances of our birth are what they they are and form the starting point of our life. What happens from there is a matter of parenting and at the appropriate time of adulthood, what we decide to do with our life. In reality, what we become, is largely up to us in the end.
Who we are, then, becomes a matter of choice. Not so much so, what our parents choose, but what we ourselves decide what we will be. The old axiom rings through very clearly: "If it is to be, ii's up to me". That being the case, what should one do to make the best life. Just as much we are what we eat, we are also, what we think, what we say, what we believe, how we perceive ourselves to be, and what we say of and about ourselves. In short, the power to determine how we live and be, is really in our hands.
How often do we hear others, or we ourselves make negative statements, such as, "I'm so clumsy!" Expressions like this, as simple as it appears, is damaging to our well-being. What if we said, "I really can do that better," or "this is a challenge" instead of the negative statement. What a different impression that would have on the way we feel and our overall approach to our experiences?
Make Happiness a Daily Experience
Everything you touch will never turn to gold. Life has ups and downs, ins and outs, rain and sun and even nights. Live with them, roll with them , accept each change and be thankful. Be thankful that you can see, you can hear, you can feel, you can move. Think what it would be if you were not able to do any of those things! Think what it would be if you could only do some of those things. Realizing how blessed you are, speak words of thanks and gratefulness. Life could be more cruel. For sure, there are those who have limitations that are more challenging than those you have and often those people are thankful. They are thankful not for what they do not have, but often for even the little they have.
Thankfulness is within all of us. We simply need to activate it. Make it spontaneous and soon, it will become as effortless as breathing in and out. When we become thankful, our physiological and spiritual well-being will automatically improve. We will begin to feel better and our outlook on life will begin to be more accepting. We will be less critical of events, less stressed at the changes around us and as we become more accepting of life's changes, joy will replace disgruntlement and we will begin to feel contented and happy.
Being happy is to accept life changes as we live each day to the full, always being reminded that life is a gift. Open it, look at it, be thankful for it, and enjoy it. It takes you to be joyful. Joy, therefore must come from within you. Release it and see your life blossom into a happy and healthy experience. One that is full of laughter, pleasure, and good physical feeling. In this way, you can live happier longer for you're worth every breath of your life. Your beginnings were beyond your control; your life after is what you allow or cause it to be.
